thanks for the crit!
Yeah, in this piece I tried a new technique, that being the glowing red outline.

I agree it needs some AA but by the end I was really pushing the color pallette because of the range of colors in the piece (hence that giant flat red spot at the bottom :P), so I didn't really have the chance. Part of it is also that outline thing. I kinda started it unintentionally, and then it became too much work to take it out. I'm not ultimately disappointed with it but I do agree about the AA.

You were pretty much right about the glow, the scene is the boss battle with Ridley (the draconian fellow in the reflection there), and it takes place in a lava-filled cavern. here's my ref: http://image.gamespotcdn.net/gamespot/images/2004/reviews/914982_20040220_embed101.jpg

i really like the green reflected tinted image, i think you did a good job with this effect.

as for crit, i think your helmet looks very flat, there are no shadows highlights or really any kinda lighting suggesting that this is a round object, all your lines would benifit from AA (there are some great tutorials on the subject), like in many of your peices your colors are all on the dark end, which makes the peice look a little washed out or poorly lit. and im not quite sure what that round thing behind samus is. ooh and i should mention i really like your background gives a warm glow feel from the floor too me it suggests a fire out of view, but i do like it, bit confused as to whats going on in the scene. ooh and one question who is Ridley?
