congratulations man, I think that making a game is the ideal of every pixel-artist here on PJ :)... including me!
I know this is an old work of yours, but I still think this is absolutely amazing...
This is just beautiful! I don't think it's too noisy, but I wouldn't use the same brown colour for brick-shapes in the background as for the floor in the foreground, it seems to confuse the boundaries.
Yup, too noisy to actually be playable. There's only the backgrounds and platforms for now, no items, characters, enemies etc.
I did get an offer to turn this into a playable game, though, and I truly hope it works out (it will be much cleaner, I assure you :D )
it looks nice but on the same time i cant really see what is in the background and what are the objects you can collect etc.
Beautiful. There should be more games that look like this. My only gripe is that some of these test screens are a little too noisy for practical gameplay, but that's just a personal thing.
Oh and I LOVE the dragon skeleton. fav'd.
This is a very strange and distinctive style. I enjoy it; perhaps if I ever feel like making a platformer and have no ideas...
Brilliant backgrounds. I really do hope you use this for something.
Thank you all for commenting, I find every piece of advice precious.
I have checked out some Rick Dangerous screens (I *did* play it, but it was a *long* time ago!), and noticed my temple ruins need:
a) ruined stuff
b) ladders! :D
I'll definitely play with this some more.
I might darken the BG a little more to separate the levels a little more.
This is really great. :)
Quite inspiring. Make me want to make some games! :D
It almost looks like one big artwork. :D Oh and btw, it reminds me a lot about Rick Dangerous, which is a good thing. Well done.
The new palette's better but I think the 'fleshtone' sorta colors seem a bit dry and could benefit from a smidge of hue shifting. Is just my personal preference though :P
Nice. My only problem is the chest, it looks wierd.
Anyway,
Fav.
Yeah, I was trying to cram as much detail as I could into those mockups, some parts do seem a bit confusing when I look at it now :P
@iLKke thanxz0rz! Also, I have totally only now spotted your signature on the Grafx2 splash screen :D
I definitely like the newer palette better. I like the purple. This kinda reminds me of older metroid games. I think it's a bit busy in places, but I like it a lot.
I think there's too much contrast between the black you used for doors and the darkest blue from arne's palette. Tried to edit the palette. Still great concept and tiles. :D
The tiling is nice but that palette is getting very tired and overused.
vary nice work there ^^
and i wanted to ask you something... what program are you using to make tilesets and build them like thet?
