Whoa... wicked! My favorite details are the little gauge needles that max out just before the punch. You've plainly put tremendous thought and effort into it!
Oh, the body size changes when he swings is because his body moves more to the background because he swings using his body. Notice his left leg closer to the background. So I suppose his body size should change a bit. Or maybe I drew it wrong so it gives it a multi-interpretation... :S
The end of the animation is supposed to be a closing for a loop back animation in this sprite only. It would be handled differently in the game engine. Thanks for pointing out the details. I really appreciate that :)
Whoah, yeah now I get your point... I guess my pixel art skill in painting and timing still need a lot of work. Thank you for the enlightment. I'll get to you when I have problems in timing. Thanks a lot! :D
@furansu: sorry yo make you wait. I've had a very intense day!
Anyway, i played a little with timings around the whole animation. Since i really accelerated the drill, i duplicated a couple of frames and looped it to preserve the length (more or less) of the "charging".
Really nice! I particularly like the movements of the drill arm and the smoke effect around the robot. Some points:
-The robot changes size during the swing
-The robot's position jumps around a lot during the end of the animation
-Especially the movement from the end-of-swing frame to the starting frame is really sloppy; things see to just jump from place to place. I'd suggest looking through the last frames and smoothening it.
One bad-ass gnome. Not the kind Ron Weasly is tossing out of his garden...
Thanks TheManuz. Which timing you're referring too? Well I'm still using a linear timing, only one default time for all frames.
Hi Sippy_Cup. Well the idea of the crane arm stretching out is so he punches to the ground and use it as a pivot. In the original design he use the crane arm to propel himself for sliding drill uppercut. But in the end some concept have to be dropped because we need a melee attack, since I already made a range attack using his crane arm. But I still want to keep the idea on punching the ground just to made him feel steady to charge his drill. Yeah, the drill arm cleverly blocks the changing angle of his feet, but I still made the body rotates. The main issue is still on the smoke. That's one I have to admit. Thanks for all your comments. I really appreciate it :)
absolutley beautiful.
i have a few issues with the far hand crashing through the ground and the feet sliding around esspecially in the end frames during the recoil but this could be to make a smooth looped animation and in that case i understand, also you used the drill arm cleverly to block the mechanics of the feet, generally in such a powerful heavy move like this your feet sliding around wouldnt be good, but this is all very minor in such a quick animation, also the rotation of the body is a bit jerky might help to draw a couple more angles as inbetweens, but with such a detailed sprite id say it looks and it does work, in a way to catch the eye so to speak. sorry bout this ramble, beautiful pixels, love the rust!
I totally like this!
Only suggestion: it needs more variations on timing, i think.
When i get some time i'll mess a little with timing and post it.
Anyway, this piece is soooo awesome!
Yeah this is really tiresome animation, since there are many elements to animate. I decided doing them one by one than to animate it simultaneously. Still have a hard time when making it.
Yeah, that's my weak spot. I'm having serious issue with fire and smoke. Still not good on drawing them and animating them... So this is the best solution for the moment, until I'm getting good on fire-smoke stuff :S
Thanks @blackmoondev, @QuaziGNRLnose, @Interneet, @Delko @Smilecythe, @luisniel, @Cilein, @Noblevalerian, @Tyriar, @Biagy, @Mrmo_Tarius, @elend, @Imbrainy, @Mathias, @dumbo, @wenruto
This is great but the smoke should move with the animation
Must have taken time to choose where to start from haha
Did I say I was getting the game as soon as it gets out? Well, I am! :D
Huge&cool stuff, this!
Fantastic!
