I bookmarked the WIP of this that you posted on TIGSource. That's how good it was. And now it's even better. Brilliant.
na endlich... ;3 (awesome, bring it to place one of the hall of fame nao! )
yes what i ment with photoshop done hard is that it looks like a photoshoped pice "but is aculy pixelart"
photoshop done hard.. baah nevermind i ment that it is the best pice of art i've ever seen period..
Uhm...pixelart...all dithering was Handmade, all AA was handmade
HOLY MOTHER FUCKING SHIT!
IS THIS PIXEL ART OR FUCKING PHOTOSHOP DONE HARD :D
and yes caps was intended.
Wow... this deserves more than a place in the Hall of Fame. This deserves a place in the Hall of Fame's Hall of Fame. This is among the best pixel pieces I've ever seen, even among the best digital art pieces I've ever seen. There's really not much to say about something this great that conveys how blown away I am
7/7 and fave, of course ;)
I really cant think about the amount of work on these piece, Im not really a fan of big pieces, actually I love big pixels, anyway congrats for this!!!
I remember about 6months ago, neo and I were lamenting how you'd started this very piece, and weren't gonna finish it. I'm glad to say we were wrong about that. We were SO wrong.
I salute you, dear sir.
Wow... Amazing at first I didn't thought it was pixelart but its just amazingly well made
Keep up the good work :D
This deserves a place on the wall of fame (:
Gamester, I don't think he was bashing the artwork. If anything I think he was praising Elk for sticking with it even though it's so tedious.
{Pt} Simplismente perfeito, adorei os efeitos e o dragão em si
The foreground elements are absolutely superb and show tremendous skill. I would have liked to have seen the background dithering take on a more creative style. At the moment the dithering is so well done it looks computer generated - which takes away from the organic nature of the rest of the piece. Which isn’t to try to take away from your wonderful achievement here, I’d just like to see the same awesome skill applied to the background that was applied to the foreground.
I'm a HUGE dragon fan, and this... oh, man... First when I clicked the perviev and my computer was loading I though that "Okay. Let's see the nekst pic..." then the pic showed up and I looked at it. I mean, WHAT THE FUCK REALLY?!
This is one helluva badass piece! Congratulations. The lighting is wonderful and the dithering is mighty fine!
I'm sorry for that...Really...Get some help...Please. I want more good artists like you in this world....
THT IS F**KIN...AWWESOMEE MANNN I LOVE YOU NOW :P
THIS IS TOOO AWESOME TO BE TRUE
i would comment more to show how mind blowing tht is but got no more words to describe thtt
I'm speechless. I don't think "I want to do terrible things to you" is entirely appropriate, but goddamn, if you don't inspire a professional crush, nobody does. I don't need to add any more swearing and drooling—you know you've done a damn fine job and you deserve to take another however-many-year-long break after this 600,000-odd-pixel masterpiece.
.... WELL. First words out of MY mouth were "Oh my god, you are !@#$ing kidding me!"
And I'm not even religious.
about time. guess i could use some of these drugs too.
Doing something like this is not difficult, but very very laborious. It requires a lot of dedication and time.
That is the secret of beauty. I'm a pencil artist(too) and I take weeks or even months to complete a drawing, and in the end they are hyper-realistics(I guess that is the word). The same goes for Pixelart. My dinosaur took 2 weeks and at the end I was
Very impressive. I can't begin to describe how awesome this pixel is. Just amazing
The envelope has been pushied. Truly epic.
There are quite a few 'issues' one could have with the pic, but nothing can diminish it's sheer impressiveness.
@ Onek. Yep, you make good points about composition. I'm in full agreement about that.

When you think about it, this piece really pushes the boundaries of pixel art (in a good way), being so big and having a full 64 colors. Yet I don't even teeter on the question as to whether or not PA was the best medium to use for it. It certainly is.
. . .
Well you are an inspiration now too. Many people said it can't be done, detailed render at such sizes. It takes a certain type of mind to achieve it, it seems!
That's like a magic, really :)
I spent a while yesterday night enjoying development of this piece (thank for sharing btw). It's beautiful to see how it turns out from frame to frame. I have never seen anything that huge and detailed so far. I wish you found the time to finalize some parts but oh well, its still amazing.
Great work!
I drooled * wow amazing.. You have for sure a GIVEN TALENT.
@ Mathias:
my edit was meant to be more like a joke, of course its impossoble to change anything here :D and its really great as is
but still...
i mirrored this piece horizontaly (which for me is a great way to check compostion flaws etc... and i found it too be looking a bit strange... especially the tail and it being so parallel to the dragons body disturbs me ...
idk but for me composion is a big thing and i find this a problem in a lot of artworks like this (i.e. fantasy art like this artstyleonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/fantasy-art1.jpg or this www.allianceangst.com/galeria/desenhos/slides/Luis%20Royo%20-%20Fantasy%20Art%20-%20Tree%20Dragon.jpg ... .... the overall rendering and drawing/ painting skill is good ,but for me in theres more to art than that.... the images are just loaded with stuff and dont really focus on anything. i like a more minimalstic approach to art. peolpe spend month arrenging squares on the canvas so they are most pleasing (...talking bout pixelaRT hehe ;)
maybe im sounding like im jelous (and i certainly am) and just want to put this down somehow but still these are things i would crtitisize , which im free to do i guess
well, first of all: wow!
if there's something to crit then the roughness in some places (like the rocks on the left, the dragon's tail end, ...). probably just a matter of taste, i like it clean² an defined². awesome piece anyway, looove the lava and his glowing belly!
kurzum: naet schlecht :D
It took me a while to load this on my slow internet connection. But my oh my was it worth it! The pest Pixel-Art I have ever seen, period!
Blizzard fails :D haha, they combined images that dont even fit together XD
this pixel art that reminded me of that image

OH MY GOD THAT THING GREAT, I LOVED ALL THE DRAGON, FIRE ANDTHAT EFFECT.
thanks Helm and buloght :D you two are my idols and were inspirations for me to keep on doing pixelart
Amazing. The dragon stance and behaviour is superb, as well as just the rendering. It seems like you threw all of your emotion into his emotion, very raw and powerful.
Colors #2 & 49 are a bit funky...other than that it's a pretty nice pic ;)
Amazing! a "super easy" favorite!
Thanks for sharing the WIP
FUCK ELK. FUCK.
And sorry about the swearing.
BUT FUCCKKKKKK
Oh, and I was so amazed that I actually got goosebumps. That's never happened to me before.
of course, im a psychopath, gay, and im on drugs.
wow! Good Elk, is so perfect that it does not seem pixels
There's no point to look for flaws, this is pure art. Needless to say this sits on the summit of what can be done with pixels along with few other masters. The colors are like... out of their true identity and reflecting another star's lights.
Good part is I'm a WoW player, bad part is you removed most of your gallery before I had a chance to see.
I'm still lost for words... This is amazing, OMG... This is FAV, 7/7, monthly top and hall off fame. No doubt...
This is EPIC!
I see this ending up somewhere in the top of the Hall of fame, perhaps even #1!
