Is there a particular reason you used those colours?
Like a hard set pallet (no pun intended)  you where adhering to?
If not, I think the difference between the two reds needs to be a bit bigger, they're very similar, and take a way from the readability of the form.

and yes.. it is a bit heavy but I wanted less color and I dont think it would have worked as well without them.

A little thick on the dithering, but in a way it adds to the style of the sprite.

It kind of looks like a Japanese wood cut out.
