It is, but you could probably find more contrasted combinations for these few tiles, even including black again, as long as it isn't a simple outline.
The point with this kind of work is to try to make the abstract textures readable as shading or volume. That duality is the point with all pixel-art actually.
Ugh, I can't believe I messed up along the jawline, I need to pay more attention to that stuff. I kind of feel like the jawline is too soft without the black, though. i.imgur.com/Jhbih.png

Nice. There are (at least) 2 3-color tiles along the jaw line, which happens to be too sharp and distracting. Try to replace it by hinting to a softer shadow on the neck.
