In those images the light source is from a top left angle, mine is from above.

This is definitely an improvement, but you need to think more about where a shadow would be on a cylinder http://www.guidetooilpainting.com/images/basics-shadows/8proximity-shadow-the-one.jpg

(unless what I'm interpreting to be shadows are actually cake layers)
