Something I forgot to upload a couple months ago. Just a peaceful grassy hill in the woods. The background was kind of aimlessy sketched out and overall it's not as refined as I wanted it but I thought it was worth posting.

Thanks to the fine folks on Pixelation who guided me a little.

real forest atmosphere :)

Fe4r (Level 1 Gangster) @ 8/11/2012 11:54

The colours are used perfectly and the scene is very well made

Yielmo (Level 4 Lieutenant) @ 4/14/2012 07:49

 Love it.

Gabylouro (Level 2 Petty Officer) @ 8/6/2011 06:13

 It's so beaultiful....

BUBBLUN (Level 1 Rookie) @ 7/23/2011 18:39

The atmosphere is just awesome, perfect use of colors!

CELS (Level 7 Lotus) @ 7/23/2011 14:45

I am aroused by the epicness. Only thing I don't like is the dithering in the clearing.

Mathias (Level 6 Garbage) @ 6/8/2011 09:22

Yeah, and having a figure in it would add a ton of implied background story.

This keeps reminding me of ZELDA II: Adentures of Link, like it could be box art for the game or something.

crit: concerning the middleground trees - some of the lowest boughs feel far too thick; disproportionate considering the trunk's width. And you got jaggies/seemingly unrefined AA in the rocks and lightest grass blades below the large rock.

peanutcookie (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 6/5/2011 13:17

 Looks great!

Joe. (Level 3 Nasturtium) @ 6/5/2011 00:55

This looks goooooood.  Only crit is the color count, seems unnecessarily high.

variable (Level 1 Depressed) @ 6/5/2011 00:21

Totally sweet! I love this whole concept.

Eddu (Level 1 Rookie) @ 6/3/2011 13:16

I loved the way you paint the trees, that's fantastical.

Dweller (Level 4 Murderer) @ 6/2/2011 14:44

Good job, I love the grass

Mis-BUG (Level 9 Bio Mutant) @ 6/2/2011 14:15

neat result... good job...

I agree with Skamocore. Reducing the palette could help you gaining contrast and of course a more interesting shading.

d-p (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 6/2/2011 12:08

The grass around the stones is just great.

Papermoon (Level 4 Button Man) @ 6/2/2011 11:40

that looks wonderful ^^

Peach (Level 6 Made) @ 6/2/2011 11:31

I tend to agree with skamocore, the palette seems to be quite huge for the gamma of colours you've used. but that's definitely a nice composition and scene. Well done with the grass too.

Sploder (Level 1 Rookie) @ 6/2/2011 11:30

Your color edit looks really nice and all, but it has a different atmosphere.

skamocore (Level 11 Dolphin) @ 6/2/2011 07:22

A good scene, but I think you could have played around with the colours a bit more; particularly, in terms of the contrast. I made a bit of a colour edit.

Kurt Russell Fan Club (Level 1 Rookie) @ 6/2/2011 05:51

I like the stone and the bark but I think the clear winner is that beautiful, fluffy grass.

Sanfrouah (Level 3 Hatchikyu) @ 6/2/2011 04:27

Waiting for King Arthur.

KrypToniTe (Level 5 Soldier) @ 6/2/2011 01:49

Wow, reminds me from a dozen good RPG:s. Beautfiul scenery, although the trees in the BG could be more brownish.

Fingerfoods (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 6/1/2011 21:06

Apart from the dithering in the background, this looks like it could be a miniature painting. Love the way you did the bushes; very impressionistic.

xxmantisxx (Level 7 Mass Murderer) @ 6/1/2011 20:07

bobowitzbob (Level 4 Team Leader) @ 6/1/2011 19:24

Wow, nicely done and cool concept!

Xamllew (Level 3 Chief) @ 6/1/2011 18:12

Thanks guys.

When I started this I meant for it to only be rocks, when I added the sword I didn't even realize the likeness to Excalibur. Also I wanted to make something that seemed untouched by man for a change but I like the idea of having some person off in the distance, maybe searching for the sword.

Mathias (Level 6 Garbage) @ 6/1/2011 17:41

I love faded forest bg's.

Why not a shadowy figure silhouette in the bg? COMEON

Elastico-Gadget (Level 2 Kukyu) @ 6/1/2011 17:37

The Arthurian legend might be present in that picture, am I wrong? :) Really great colors and atmosphere.

twingloxx (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 6/1/2011 15:06

Great atmosphere!
