Voltorb looks a little... depressed. ;_;
It's definitely well made. I think the expression is actually really good. The dark colors combined with the more tired and serious expression just makes him look depressed. Maybe he had a long day at work, or got in a fight with someone.
And it would really help in getting this approved as well. Right now they're so similar (the bit of dithering a tthe bottom, the near-identical eyes) that, while it certainly could be referenced, it also seems like a possible edit, which puts it in a tight spot.
edit: the update is further removed from the original (except for the cluster of pixels on the eye on our right), which is good, but you've also deadened the colors, they no longer pop! it looks like he's in a dark corner of a room, brighten him up a bit!
It's not an exact replica, but it's so similar... wouldn't it be more interesting to show us YOUR take on the pokemon, rather than another version of a sprite we've seen before?
A fight? Don't you mean a BATTLE!!!???
Anyway i really like the dark colors of this piece, fits well with voltorb!
