Very nice! Technically not perfect, but quite good for an early attempt.
I prefer the simpler way the left hand is shaded, compared to the more elaborate right one.
Why not try using fewer colours? You might find it more challenging at first, but you will be able to work (and thus, learn) faster, and you'll have better control of the palette.

Well, that was kind of on purpose, still don't know if it's a good thing or not. The idea was that the nearer objects are lighter, more saturated and detailed, and the further ones more pale. Thanks for the feedback :)
His right arm (the one on the left ;)) seems to have less texture than the rest of it. Other than that, nice design :)

It's for a game eh? I'd like to see some animations of this thingamajig, it's wonderful.
It could do with some more cohesive colouring rather than the distinct ramps for each part.
