I think 16 colours per sprite and only a limited number of palettes? I've also used the larger SNES resolution that was rarely used.

 you've been busy.  excellent work!  great game, great re-imagining.  would have faved for the rock tiles alone.

absolutely great work. You got it amazing fitting. Although the shape of the mushrooms light don't really fit together with the rough stone bottom.
