This was for a challenge, so it had to be this small. However, thanks for the compliment. I figured no one else would even notice this thing.
I like the idea of there being an almost inhuman creature being captured in this piece and you certainly pulled of the color palette visual very well but my suggestion would be to make the image larger so that it's not quite as crowded. More space usually means more stability or control in your images
No, I see what you mean. I should have added some more line up above at the diagonal points. However, It doing what I did for the effect, I did not make the shapes' corner diagonal in relation with each other. It would have made crooked lines. I'll be sure to consider that on the next project I do.
I suppose the disruption comes from the fact that it's hard to wrap my mind around the space we're seeing. The foreground and the diagonal lines from the bottom suggest some kind of path or tunnel, but the background is so flat and lacking in details that it almost looks like a flat surface. Looking at it for a while, I'm unsure if the different shades of purple was intended to make it look like a 3-dimensional gate, or if it's a smooth tunnel and the colours are just intended to make it dark in the distance.
In conclusion, I just have a hard time getting a sense of space and perspective. But maybe it's just me. <shrugs>
I've been told that it was a bit busy, and I kind of felt thebusy-ness when I was doing the extra single white pixels at the last minute (it's my tendency to make things busy......gotta work on that). I'll fix it after the voting. However, as for the how does it make the picture disruptive? It may just be my colors, and I was trying to make sure that my background fit with the underground nature of the monster.
It's very original and almost certainly a sign that you've been eating mushrooms. I like it. My only criticism would be that it's a bit busy, what with the light rays obscuring what is a pretty small and unfamiliar shape, and also that the highly simplistic and angular background is a bit disruptive.
