you dont need to change the perspective. Hoepfully this picture will explain what I mean:
Would I go about giving it more thickness by changing the perspective?
theres alot of banding; on the chest lid, and the rupee. Try adding some hues into the rupee. Maybe look up a picture of something silver and sample some colors from it to see what type of hues you could use. Try brighter lights in the silver, as right now it doesnt look shiney but sort of dingy instead. Try simplifying the shading on the rupee to convey form and get rid of banding, like this:

see how each facet of the rupee is clearly defined by value, making it read as 3d?
I also think some of the darker hues youre using in the chest are too similar to the black that they cant be seen at all. For that reason the AA you did around the outside of the chest is just lost. You could increase the contrast on the lower part of the chest, that way you dont have so many darks. It would also give the impression that the rupee is glowing a bit.
Also consider the thickness of the chest. Currently the chest is apperantly paper thin.
