Thank you for the advices. I'm not a fan of drawing otters with a lot of whiskers because it oftenly ends with me drawing mustaches or beard. I guess a thread would be my next step.

lots of banding here. a bit pillow shaded as well. the hat is a bit wonky, being much lower/larger on the right side. if you aren't using references of otters, I'd advise doing so, I wasn't sure what it was until I read the description. decide from the refs what the distinguishing characteristics are, and emphasize those (lots of whiskers, a slender form, etc). the jagged background is bringing the piece down as well, as is overuse of black outlining.
