Thank you noisebat and thank you Manupix. Composition is something I never looked into very much. All I know is the rule of thirds and I think the definition of composition that I remember said something about it being the theory of arranging unity and multiplicity of subjects. I should read up on composition and maybe try to find some good exercises on that topic.
I love this.
I think there is a composition issue: the areas with the most detail look randomly spaced; as a result the eye erratically wanders around the piece and the trees are frustratingly flat.
Thank you for your comments.
@CELS: The intention behind the colors chosen for the far away hills was to let the hills gradually become less saturated and to let them be perceived as less detailed, almost foggy because they are so far away that the naked eye would not be able to see any details back there anymore (and yes, I did not want to introduce new colors because of the chosen (even if arbitrary) restrictions of a fixed 16 color palette for this piece).
It's very nice to see some more abstract pieces. Amazing :]
I like it. But I don't understand the colours used on the distant hills. I guess you used different colors just for the sake of using different colors, (without adding new colors)? I'm barely able to see the difference between the two most distant layers and that seems to conflict with the clean look of this piece.
