I think you've done a great job at this, I love the colors, they blend well and make some nice effects.
I used grafx2 to automatically scale down the colors to 30 or so, then manually pared it down from there.
Oh wow! How did you shrink it down to 20? Was it just optimised in PS or something (I'm very new to all of this)? I definately agree about the contrast too... it looks less fuzzy. Thank you!
here's a version reduced to 20 colors. no huge loss in detail, and a much more easy-to-manage palette. contrast has also improved with the smaller palette, imo
great work regardless, smooth aa work (other than a few tiny instances of banding). welcome to PJ.
Thank you guys! I'll certainly keep that in mind for my next pixel piece... it's surprising when you see the colours all listed like that - I didn't realise how similar a lot of them are :S.
Your first??? I wish my latest was half as good as this! Welcome on board, I can't wait to see more of it =)
I'd suggest to work on reducing the color count. There are so many, indicating you're partly pixelling like you do other (awesome!) digital art. Working with a limited controlled palette (try 16!) is a great pixelling asset, helps you to unify pieces by recycling colors. This piece has 4 or 5 separate color ramps (separate in that they have little or no connection either in color space or location), the whole tends to look patchy. Some useful tips.
Top-notch sprite other than that!
It's a great piece but I feel there is something wrong or missing in this one.
