The sprite was undershaded so that it would stand out against the multi-colored background of the comic it appeared in, here. As for the colors clashing, well, I didn't design the character.

 The piece is alright, but it needs some stronger shadows and colours, to be honest. Also, the colours seem to clash a little bit with each other in the piece.. ^^;
