@Squirrelsquid: It depends on the type of shooter. Tilting is not advisable for a shooter like "ESPGaluda", with hundreds of bullets on screen, where you need milimeter controls. My project is an aviation shooter, it's diferent from the classic arcades, and the tilting controls gives a more realistic and challenging flying controls, using parameters like stability, mobility, speed... We're going to explain the controls on the blog soon, showing a video.
Controls via d-pad or via finger invade the iPhone screen too much, and we don't like that. The game is for iPhone only, not iPad.
Thanks for your comment!
hmmm regarding controls - i find the handling vial tilting in shmups to be sub optimal... the best I saw so far, was a rather.. well made 'move the ship with your finger' mode - where the finger would be put on the screen and the player would hover slightly infront of your finger - you only lose a little sight to the back, and it was very precise in movement... I'd consider doing more than one options and let the player select what he preferes - I find tilt controls tireing on the wrist after a while too ( especialy on an Ipad or w.e. )
Hello everybody, thanks for the comments!
@CELS: just for iPhone at the moment, sorry.
@Mr Special: I will try to upload more planes in the future, but you can follow the development of the game in my blog.
@xodblux: F-14 wings will not move on the game; moving wings for B-1B and Tu-160 only, but they are bosses, not playable planes.
@.Planet: you move the plane by tilting the iPhone, then the plane turns left or right using this animation.
@Squirrelsquid and @ThePixelKnight: thanks for commenting!
Very good pixel art, it was super realistic. The animation was great too, but did not Understand what it is for. Good job and great palette.
Nice ! Would be nicer if you could make the wings to open in the animation !
you did a really good job! I wanna see more planes! Considering the tomcat is one of my least favorites.
This is supremely awesometastic.
Just for the iPhone? <shakes fist>
This reminds me an old DOS game called Raptor.
Looks great.
