I think it's mostly because the legs are barely visible on the dark background here, which makes it seem as if the chicken just jerks forward and back.
That being said: it looks fine on a white background since you can see the legs and read the animation better. c:
Well, it IS only three frames of animation, so it's not exactly going to be smooth. It was designed to use four (the standing frame used between each step), but honestly that doesn't make too much of a difference with so few frames.
A tinierest chicken? Alright, but you brought this upon yourself...

Due to the size (4x5) and number of colors, it doesn't have much of a face, and the animation is a weird little hop. I think this is as small as I can go without it just being an indistinct yellow circle (which it pretty much is already).
It's really cute and recognizable, but the animation looks a bit jumpy to me. o.O
Done. I assume it was animated in a "standing frame, left foot forward frame, standing frame, right foot forward frame" pattern by the guy I made it for, but I kind of like how it looks with just the three frames looping. I also kept it at original size, so if there's a smudge on your monitor you may miss it.
You should animate it instead so we could see it in action.
I love that the speed is faster than the rooster. Very cute!
