Just saw this piece again after a good while thanks to the hall of fame scroller. The technique is so strange and unintuitive but works incredibly well to communicate material and intention with so few literal materks. Really stunning piece that more than rewards close inspection.
Some really interesting technique and great colour choice too. Nice...
very cool color selection and art, game would be pretty fun from the looks of it. gotta love platformers ;)
I just went trough you album and I've gotta say I'm looking forward to hopefully another 5 years of you on PJ, you've improved a lot! It's really inspirational.
Excellent job! Faved it :)
Would love to see it animated!
can i quote myself??? XDDDD.... let me guess you will win the next week challenge!!!...
Lovely details, great style, but a strange interpretation: furt rabbit will ram aztec bird.
congratulations for teh first place....
..... emm wait... this votation is not over!!... OPPS! jjajajajajaja :PPP
enjoy
If the bird is the player character, it's awesome, yet if it's the bunny it's barely perceptible over the very colorful (but beautiful) platforms. This is surely wins gold or silver.
The color choice is amazing.
You did a great job on this!
My vote is definitely going for this. Your style has a lot of dimension and details, but as much as I like this, I'm not very surprised with the style you used here which you also have used in many other mockups of yours. It clearly shows your improvement on this specific style which is cool to stare and look forward to, but still it was bit dissapointing after expecting something new. Not trying to bash or anything, just trying to motivate trying new things. You might discover that something special with experiments.
Yep! Awesome! My guess is you could also kill the darkest black on the inside of the platforms, and it would still look killer.
Also "I wish I were a bird"? You have *no* shame ^-^
This is one of the few mockups I have ever really liked. Some can be good, nice, OK, but this one is great, it's so nice to look at.
I thought it looked like the bird was cutting loose too. I like the wip design for the cloud on the left better than what you have now.
Very nice! :) One of the new cloudcolors is a bit redundant though; since it's only marginally different from one of the original ones. Compared to the ground, the treetops blend a bit much with the background...maybe they could be slighty brighter/have more green. And...is the bird pooping!? :D
All in this piece is awesome, but all was already said, color palette is sick, character design too! Very nice piece! Gratz and maximum respect!
I could only repeat the former comments. Also, instant palette recognition!
So original and unique. Busy, yet clean, crisp and easy to read.
What impresses me most about this, beyond the fact that you're tremendously skilled, is the fact that I've never seen a platform game that looks remotely like this. And that's saying a lot. Both the background and the character design.
I'd LIKE to say there are, but the only thing that was available to play was an old-ish MMO I made some stuff for, back when I didn't know how to draw :D
I am getting some interesting offers for a variety of games lately, though, so if my schedule allows it, you may be able to play SOMETHING in the near future :)
Beautiful use of DB's palette.
Are there any games with your arts in them yet for me to play?
A true pioneer in the world of pixel art!
