Here is my submission for the Weekly Challenge!
This literally took the entire week, and is also my first completed pixel piece!
(Don't worry, it's not due to procrastination, it's due to being completely new to pixel art.) There are still some things I'd like to change after this is over, but considering the time allowed, I'm pretty satisfied.

Few video game plots are more self-explanatory than "alien invasion," but it's all the little details that make the story come to life. I wanted this to not only be a video game mockup, but to be a video game mockup with a definite direction. Among other things, you can understand what leads up to the scene despite having no context: Every previous plan has failed, so you've taken an important part of the aliens' communication system in a desperate last-ditch effort to stop them. They spotted you, so now your only chance is to outrun them across the rooftops and bring the device to someone you know who can shut it off.
Notice how the last digits in the timer are 73. No, you don't get an hour to save the world. You have one minute. The bottom of the spaceship is starting to glow red, and as you know, a red glow is never a good thing. You have a long way to go, and if the aliens catch you, they're not going to just laugh and let you go...

Thanks to everyone over on the forums for their suggestions and comments!
I hope you enjoy it! And if you liked it, be sure to vote for this piece in the challenge! I'd really appreciate it.

I like the crazy technicolor of this environment.
