aside from changing some colors, and getting rid of the inner layer of banding, there is only 1 pixel of difference between this and the original. Do you want to lean to create art? If so, you cannot let yourself be content with that little level of effort and creativity. Im not saying that to be mean, but if you want to create art its alot of work. If you arent serious about creating art thats fine too, but then this might not be the right place for you; this site puts an emphasis and technical merit and doesnt permit things like this that are exact copies.
furthermore, there are a few general rules here such as solid color backgrounds should serve a purpose or otherwise be transparent. Also images should ussually be at 1x because there is a built in zoom feature. Sometimes you can get away with inlarged images if it serves a purpose.
Also, I notice that this old sprite is pretty dated. It uses what pixel artists now recognize as a bad technique: banding. Theres nothing wrong with re-invisioning old sprites, but the work should be totally original. Maybe you can draw your own version of the Boo.
Metaru's comment really just pointed out that this is a rip; which it is. He wasnt even that rude about it. Don't get deffensive about him pointing that out when its true. Dont get so defensive about comments; create art you can be proud of and then rude criticism wont be able to hurt you. Hopefully you havent already gotten mad and just decided to leave the site and give up, because I spent alot of time writting this.

so its basically a resized, if not traced eyeballed version of the original sprite found in the super mario games.
how would you exactly define your "merit" in doing so? you did pretty much nothing besides swaping a few colors(namely the pure black from the outline and the pure red from the tongue)
are you aware that if anything this can be considered as nothing but a cheap rip off?
if you'd read the submission rules, then you'd know that we don't allow edits. if it's impolite to call this a 'cheap rip off' then it's impolite to submit art to a site without at the very least reading their submission rules.
though to be honest, this goes further than just being an edit, it's essentially the exact same artwork from the game. you put absolutely no creativity into this piece. this isn't an insult, it's a fact: this is someone else's work.
