Thanks! Although I'm not sure I will polish it, and not because of laziness, just because I really love the look of it now. I think having it rough and starkly shaded adds the same kind of presence you find when something is really lit by candlelight. Thanks for the support!
Man I'd love to see this piece when everything's all finished and polished up. Giant toads = instant success! Nice work!
Thanks CELS. Yeah, I tried my best with the jaggies but it wasn't quite enough. And the color you're talking about is actually the lightest shade of the toad's skin. I personally thought it added a nice touch towards blending the whole piece together color-wise but I guess not...
Great work with this. Pity it wasn't included in the challenge. The only thing that really stands out to me, other than jaggies and AA, is the colour of the flame. One of the colours has too much green in it.
Thanks for the edit. I tried my best to follow it and I think I've fixed the jaggies. Sucks that I can't enter the challenge though :(
Aw, probably a mod made a mistake and now it is too late, it is impossible to get it in again :(
Okay, I gave it my best shot. Don't know if it worked or not, I've kind of gone cross-eyed haha. Hopefully I've done what you were suggesting.
Oh and any idea why this isn't on the challenge page even though it's gone through to the gallery? I clicked "submit to weekly to challenge."
I disagree with you. Of course it would be terrible to get this thing perfect, but taking out all the jaggies can be done within a hour, if not a half. Time is where you spend it on...
@ Hapiel Haha yeah, me too now. Yeah, I didn't want to even try AA'ing this considering the size and plus that would mean more colors wehich I think would detract from it. Although, I have tried removing the jaggies and this is the end result. I only started this on Friday so if I had had more time I probably could've smoothed everything alot better.
@ Smilecythe Like I said, I would have liked to, but I really quite enjoy the way this turned out. More personality than an overly-smoothed piece.
@Nitemare60 Then you'd barely see the toad 'cause the candle wouldn't be big enough to light him haha
Haha, because of the comments I am now imagining such a tiny candle!
I disagree with smile, there is no need for AA at all. If you want an easy improvement, get all the lines free of jaggies!
hahaha then it'd be like something you'd expect to see on gulliver's travels... :o or try this, Big toad and small candle... O.o
LOL Wouldn't it be funny if it was just a small candle? Would totally ruin the atmosphere. Thanks Nitemare.
thats either one big toad or one small candle... :o
Nicely done :)
Just a lil note: Don't use a scaled down version of the piece as it's preview icon. Even the preview has to qualify as pixel art which scaled down images do not.
some dithering and AA would be appreciated
