a bit of test art for a shoot-em-up i'm planning to make. The bottom one is the original version and uses 12 colours. The top one is the new version, using 8 colours. I expanded the wings and changed the entire colour of the ship to red, and increased contrast.

Looks better, and reads easier. Good improvement.

I did post in a bit of haste, since i've reduced the colours to 8(inc. transparency) and ramped up the contrast. Looks a lot better now. Image has been modified to reflect the new changes.

Nice, but you could easily reduce the number of colors by deleting some similar ones. Dark reds are alike, and pretty close to black, you can't make any ifference between the greys you used, and light grey looks like light blue at this scale.
