ok soknow we knnow what the red lines are actually from, i see what your going for. but honestly the lies are more dominant then anything else in your piece and considering its in the background that shouldn't be so.
so you might want to find a different color to use for them. as for other ideas you might want to do what megaman battle network did and use circuits , rather then random lines. also i use acyti0onscript 3 as well so go me :P
Looking good! For consistency's sake, I would make sure you can see the top 4-5 pixels of the surface of the lava like you can with the ground tiles.
To explain off the farthest background layer: The red grid animates, and serves as a reminder to the player that they're in virtual reality. It's less jarring and distracting than it sounds. It's quite possible that won't be sticking around forever, in the case I think up something better.
ChrisButton: Actionscript 3.
That's pretty awesome!
What's the game being programmed in?
firstly i'd like to say nice work, because it isn't half bad so far. now let me give you some feedback based on what i think:
in terms of level design, the lack of lava on the ight side of the screen is seriously lacking were as the left has heaps. so might wish to rethink that a little. now onto the design, its obvious your using tiles as you can clearly see when its repeating itself.
but the beiggest issue on this piece for me is those redlines. i don't see why you need a grid in the background. you could have simple replaced all of that with the background color your currently using...and then theres the gens they do look like they are above the ground almost floating above the piece. also i think they are a little big in comparison to everything else on the screen. maybe a dinosaur bone or something could be that big but not a gem.
I don't get the red grid, and why there's a different-looking grid to the right. Are there going to be tiles there in the future or something?
i suppose the background still in the way, looks good so far! :DDD. Agree with you about the lava :P
I did not realize the lack of lava in this picture. Let me remedy that..
I do need some more repitition-breaking tiles thrown in the set. That's one of the reasons I hastily added in the gems in the first place, I'll agree they need touched up as well.
Nice. I love the way you've laminated the platform surface, it's simple but looks cool and unique to boot.
I know it's a screenshot. but compositionally I think the magma needs more of a pressence or should be removed from the image. The dinky little piece in the corner there looks out of place.
Are the purple things meant to be gems embedded in the earth? If so the look like they are sitting above the earth and could do to with the earth being bevelled around them.
Tile repetition is very evident on the large expanse of earth on the left. The softer look you used in the platforms could work better here.
P.S. Thank you for being considerate and submitting at 1x.
Great style... I like it.
