Made this probably around 2 years ago, a mini-cutscene for an adventure game that was in the works for a while, but I got wind that it has been put on hold for an unforseen amount of time and the game lead pretty much had to stop work on it. I'm not going to name what it is out of respect of not wanting to spoil anything if it ever gets picked back up again and finished, so I've stripped this of everything except the goofy animation and a white background (original background was very colorful, so this would have looked awful with transparency since the sprites were catered toward that, sorry!)

One of the things I would fix if this wasn't something pronounced done 2 years ago, and had I the time, would definitely be making the jolly singing involve the qintessential elbow swinging that obligatorily is involved with singing pub songs, or some upper torso movement at the -very- least, but I don't have any plans to revisit this, sorry!

Characters also were made to fit in the style of the rest of the game, so issues aside from anatomical problems and outright ignorance of forms would get the blame finger pointed at that - though I promise that won't be the first excuse I think up if anyone finds a problem they would like to critique.

EDIT: Slightly less blinding whiteness for the BG color now.

EDIT 2: People seem to be liking the mole skittering away a lot so here's the standalone run cycle animation:

 This is amazing... un-background excluded.

Yep, I do mean those. =) Glad somebody else knows about them.

Wow, weekly showcase, I am humbly abashed!

Since the scurrying and scuttling and running off seem to be a hit, I added the standalone run cycle to the description. Enjoy!

This is very nice, StickyTape. Good story!

I like the part where it scurries off at the end... so cute

I believe I know what you're talking about. Do you mean the Javascript animated shorts that have the sort of effects you'd have on an old television?

Awesome rewind effect! Reminds me of Askekierka's ASCIImations (that's a local thingy, I will be quite astonished if there is at least one man here who knows him and his works).

Haha, and this is only half the number of frames from another one of the cutscenes :x

I'll see how other background swatches look in comparison, but darker shades made outlines look strange, and midtones competed with some of the sprite edges. The original background was pretty varied and the animation was planned straight on top of it. I wasn't the background artist for this project so I did not want to include assets that I had nothing to do with, and drawing up a whole new one seemed a lot less feasable than turning it into a mac commercial like this. Thanks for the kind words!

I like your last paragraph, for obvious reasons. :0)

Good work. Looks like you put a hell of a lot of effort.

Really pro.

The blindingly white background is unfortunate though, washes out the delicious pixels.

Omg, great animation, 297 frames is for warriors haha
