Really cool experiment and yeah, too bad it's tricky to set up custom grids like that.
for this one the L pixels were done by hand, luckely its a 3 pixel shape that is easy to make. The hard part though was that because theyre L shaped they fit together on a diagonal grid. Because of that I couldnt just stick an L pixel onto the canvas and know it was aligned correctly. So for this peice I started with a sketch and then started pixeling over it with the L pixels starting in the middle and just working my way outward. I wouldnt put an L pixel down unless it connected to one I already had down that way I knew they alligned properly. Needless to say, this is a pretty annoying way to work, but its not as bad as how I had to work on the diamond pixels I did. I wish I could program my paint program to have custom grids or something, that would make things so much easier.
thanks everyone else for the comments.
lovely
do you do these odd shaped pixels by hand or is there some way of getting around it?
Interesting looking, and most importantly, look how nothing bands!
Loving all these patterns and experiments with your work. This is quite interesting, well done!
Nice stuff! Zoomed out it read like big diagonal pixels, but this way you get it much more detailed than with the hexagons or diagonal squares! And the picture itself is nice too :)
very interesting effect, very painterly look. reminds me of chuck close.
Your style is good and perfect
