I think it's bit silly to respond to this so late, but since I never noticed your comment for some odd reason and now that I noticed it I got something in my mind for it right away, I might as well let it's useful self out :
It's a matter of taste for me. Small speculars and such things I see in your links seems and feels so incomplete in my opinion, especially when it's me trying it out. I'm bit more a fan for different dithering textures, more pixels, harder pixelphilic erection I get. Anyways, your comment is much appreciated for it might motivate me to try similiar style in the future.
