Yes, both noisy and unreadable, but still fun to look at!
While it's certainly interesting, I'd argue that it's quite unreadable. The whole image has the same rythm, eg similar textures; there is no front or back, just a carpet of noise.
Then again, it still looks very interesting in an unusable-for-a-game way :)
nice work here. personally I'd like to see the darks used in that one small clump of foliage used more extensively throughout the tree (namely just to the right, at the top of the trunk). seconding the cast shadows crit, particularly for the critters
Really loving the details, but I would try to highlight characters out bit more.
So damn hard to read, but so damn cool!
The absence of cast shadows for the cast makes them a bit out of place though.
This style reminds me the "pointillisme" in painting. Great work!
Yeah, the sprites might not be that "readable" - but i'd say that's a part of what lends it its realism. Personally i like it as it is, although if it were a real game it might need a bit more distinction between sprites and background to avoid being frustrating.
Wow, I must say it looks really cool and interesting. Has some kind of "realism", which I can't describe any better. Nice color palette and well pixeled. I like it!
The sprites are intentionally not suppose to pop out. The intent was to make a game where the sprites blend into the environment a little, because there'd be lot's of hiding scenerios in the game.
i really like the tileset, shame the sprites aren't readable on it.
Very nice, detailed but not too busy. I feel like the colours are all hovering around the same area though, not enough contrast.
Hmm - I really like light and colors - gives impression of sunny day (late summer) natural l&c
for game too flat and chaotic imo - local shadows for sprites could help a little - textures overdone for that purpose
interesting experiment
