the shape and lack of detail on the ear are a bit odd, and some areas could use more aa. not a bad start though. welcome to the world of pixel art.

 I want to like it, haha. the reason I'm trying to learn it is for my games. I'm used to doing really energetic art with ink and brush, so the transition from whipping bristol board with a brush to placing little squares one at a time is really contentious for me.

I don't really like programming or animating or anatomy but that's all important stuff to know so that I can do a good job on the things I do like.

i think its silly trying to learn something if you dont like doing it, i belive if you really like something and really want to learn and do your best. its much easier to learn and get better.
