Thanks for your time! I understand what you mean, the nose is a good point but I don't agree with the mouth, I find it looks off-center even in the original.
i don't understand why it completes glitching up the post in which i paste the pic directly.
oh well, here's my edit, sorry for the late reply:

I really love the detail on this.
good job.
If you don't like that it is too big for the preview dimensions, why not just get rid of the left-most column of pixels? There is really only one pixel there.
I strongly disagree with comments about her looking masculine; she looks entirely feminine; the only catch is the artist here is actually drawing a few facial features anime simplifies away (cheekbone shading comes to mind). She actually looks like an individual character, with a unique look to her face, instead of one of those bajillion impossibly-smoothfaced animeblobs that all look alike.
Good stuff.
@Hapiel: CELS summarized it well! staring at an image from different sides will reveal things you might not have noticed before.
@CELS: I... I knew that! :(
@Hapiel: I do the same thing to check whether or not the proportions are alright. It's a useful technique to see the image in a new light, particularly when working with portraits where symmetry is so important.
@X0-000: I was just kidding, you son of a silly person.
Nice stuff! While working on it, why do you keep on horizontally flipping the image over and over?
Thanks for the words of encouragement! I've been doing a lot of different projects and exercises to stretch my artistic muscles, although I'd like to believe that there is a "perfect solution" to my dilemma that I just can't quite reach yet :)

You seem to do a ton of work inspired by that Fire Emblem game. Having this portrait, even though it essentially is based on a character from that game, is quite refreshing because you gave it an original style rather imitating. The only reason any resemblance was "killed" is only because she originally is such a generic anime character... They all look the same! Translating it into something realistic is quite impossible. You actually gave her character with this design. Well done on that.
Yeah, my control of age is not on par with the rest of my skills yet.
there is an only accessory likeness, but this is technically pretty good!
I really like it although she looks older in your version.
My pleasure! I disagree about the mouth: it's not in line with the nose, nor does it seem to go as far on the left side as it does on the right. =p
