the background isn't really serving a particular purpose, so it's preferred that you submit at 1x.
the use of black is too stark, because you don't have other dark colors to bridge the gap between black and the rest of your palette.
the dithering for texture works fine with the low-contrast yellow, but isn't necessary elsewhere really, and betrays the smooth shape of the apple. furthermore, it's overused. perhaps try a more cel-shaded look?
