There seems to be a lot of doubt early on about this image. So that no one is confused this is NOT a color reduced PHOTO. It is in fact a color reduced PIXEL work. I created the original pixel work and was far FAR too many colors to be submitted in the contest. After some advice I did save it with a smaller palette.
Secondly there seems to be doubt about the original pixel work located http://www.deviantart.com/view/24210715/. To clear up said matter, I want to explain exactly how I created this image:
1. I used the original photo as a background layer to get the basic outline of the figure, placing each one... by hand using the paint brush tool in Paint Shop pro set to 1 pixel.
2. deleted the background layer.
3. Used a LARGE palette and worked in a very, very zoomed in refined area. I used the eye dropper tool to capture colors from the original photograph to keep it looking simmilar.
4. Added the cape by hand using simmilar shape as the yellow cape.
5. Added trees in background which are just streaks of dark woodsy colors on top of some pale greys.
6. added it to the pixelween template.
7. Set palette to 32 colors, Optimized median cut, Error diffusion.
There, you know everything. If I did something in this process that makes it somehow break the rules or not "true pixel art" Please, let me know and I'll happily remove this image, and withdraw from the contest, I don't want to do anything that breaks the rules. However, please don't comment on this work, if you intend on making statments questioning my honesty. |
