 I know you are under a time crunch for the challenge, but I wish this could either have an actual background or be transparent. Maybe you could pull the sides in closer to the subjects, and add a bit of detail to show the room around them? Or you could even make it partially transparent: pull the sides in closer around the bed and have the ghost actually stick out of the dark rectangle (making the area around the left of the ghost transparent. The last one would take a lot less work, but still give the bg some interest.
