This is beautiful. Somehow, those solid color splotches on the trees are amazing. Great colors too. I am in awe.
It took me a while to realize the trees were collapsing in the middle of the picture. I thought it was grass poking every which way, and the perspective was as if one is laying down on their back
Damn ! Sorry, I'm not familiar with all the PJ features :) Thanks !
oh, it wasn't in response to anything you said. hit 'parent' on my comment. i can see from the application in aa in other areas that it was a time issue. excellent piece regardless.
@cure: I didn't say that, I'm new to pixelart and if you look at my gallery y'ou'll see that I try a lot of things and styles. + it was a bit rushed in the end, of course it could be improved.
I'm currently learning AA principles anyway :)
Again, thanks a lot to people taking time to post a comment !
so your argument is that jaggies look good? it shows a firm foundation in the fundamentals of art, but there are technical aspects related to the medium that could be improved. namely, the application of AA in some areas.
This is at once serene (with help from beautiful gloomy blue) and threatening (thanks to the sharp, narrow composition). This forest may be quiet, but it has teeth, and it can bite.
This is the work of an artist with a solid grasp of colour, shape and texture. I for one think the piece is stronger for the lack of AA and dithering.
Great art.
you and a3um did a great job with the foresty pics. each have thier strongpoints. this is really woody and real feeling while his is a bit too grey but his is really creepy and unsettling. gonna be hard to vote if too many of these come up.
This is really beautiful, my favorite entry.
I think it fits the theme very well, it's very gloomy in the foreground and the light in the background only makes the foreground that much more dark.
This gets my vote and a fave
@Kravvon: I started that piece with an abstract feeling, with big shapes and tint areas, but after a while it became more and more "realistic", except for these branches. Whatever I tried was odd and not of my taste, so I sorta give up, even if they break the realism.
And the lack of AA is purely intentional, I'm into an "anti-dithering" period :)
Thanks for all the overwhelming comments <3
The only negative thing I can say about this is that the pointy branches sticking out in the middle of the piece feel rather unfinished to me, and I do think a little AA here and there would have enhanced the piece. But given the size and scope of the piece, everything else was perfectly executed. Certainly worthy of my vote. ;)
Stunning, this is such an atmospheric piece well done!!!!
Oh wow, so moody! Would have loved some antialiasing, though. Would be a great piece of art on a wall.
Great atmosphere you got going. The colors and the perspective are stunning.
My eyes are playing tricks on me, I could swear there's dithering, something in this.. there isn't and it is even more stunning for the lack of it. Beautiful and eerie.
super dark, but excellent!
