Athena(Cross-eyed view)

Princess Athena from retro game "Athena(1986/SNK)".
Perhaps she was the pioneer of game character wearing so-called Bikini Armor (or Metal Bikini).
I used one of the official illustrations, and tried to make stereogram.

Awesome! Wonder how you do that! I can see the third dimention!

user
Partack (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 11/27/2011 16:24

I prefer helm's edit, actually..  mind revising the stereogram so i can see this version in 3D? >.>

Imagician (Level 6 Yonkyu) @ 11/25/2011 03:41

nicely done. i did a switching animation to see it for myself, before I noticed mathias had already posted one :D anyway, I'm not sure if there's enough there to work well enough (for the eye or rather brain) if put in a real stereoscopic device (i.e. there might be some more background needed to add depth).

one thing: shouldn't the reflection on the sword stand still? speaking environment mapping...

X0-000 (Level 4 Deputy) @ 11/24/2011 00:15

It might be that my eyes are terrible, but the 3D effect only works for me after switching the position two images, otherwise I get a headache inducing picture D:

Gecimen (Level 11 Sphinx) @ 11/23/2011 07:14

The stereogram effect is pretty good. There's some pillow shading in the piece though.

*lol* you win! XD

Hi! I like this artwork very much. I am partial to the old Athena concept art too. Please consider this edit in a bit of detail if you don't mind http://locustleaves.com/ath01.gif

Love it. The stereoscopic effect is really good, makes me want to try and make a stereo piece of my own O_o

Very nice. What's with the eyestrain-inducing background colour, though? It sort of messes up the whole experience.

Gavralcraw (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 11/22/2011 15:26

Very cool.  Can't really get the crosseyed bit right, but the animated gif  conveys the intent. Could also work nicely as an anaglyph (albeit in boring black, grey and white... with red and blue/green). I'm tempted to try a simple one of those.

This is amazing, now I want more stereoscopic pixel art

Jose Halo (Level 1 Rookie) @ 11/22/2011 05:52

Thank you all.
This work is made in the past ('08 August), So I hesitated upload this.
But now, devices for viewing 3D contents became major,
I had to ride the stereoscopic fashion (...may now be comming).

みなさんありがとうですー。
実のところコレちょっと昔に作ったものでして(08年8月)今さら上げるのもためらったのですが、
3Dを見れるマシンも普及したので立体視ブーム(・・・きっと来る)に便乗してみました。

This is MPO image. You can view with Nintendo 3DS, etc.
MPO画像も作ってみました。ニンテンドー3DS等で見れますです。

If you impossible stereoscopic viewing absolutely, look at this.
(Recently, I often see these kind of images.)
どうにも立体視が無理というかたはコチラで。最近見かけるようになりましたねこういうの。

Nice work! And the KoF style shading really suits the motif :)

A tip for people who are physically unable to see 3D things such as this: Rapidly flip between the two images (in an image editor) to get a feel for the depth. Like this.

user
lolyogurt (Level 3 Stalker) @ 11/22/2011 03:39

It works like  a charms, cool idea :)

user
KwIjL (Level 5 Captain) @ 11/22/2011 03:11

 I think it works xD

user
Calv (Level 7 Assassin) @ 11/22/2011 02:15

Cool, great idea.

user
Adam (Level 9 Human) @ 11/22/2011 00:40

Ha, fun piece.

The cross-eye effect is a bit weakened by the fact that there are separate Z layers instead of continuous 3D shapes, but a great thing anyway.

user
Christoballs (Level 7 Neanderthal) @ 11/22/2011 00:22

Thanks, I did try going cross-eyed but I didn't zoom in. Once you zoom in to this it works a treat!

user
Yogurt (Level 6 Centaur) @ 11/22/2011 00:19

I can't go crosseyed, I'm nearly blind in one eye :(

user
Partack (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 11/22/2011 00:01

Oh very cool. I've practiced the art of eye crossing to see stereograms and I can confirm this 3D picture works perfectly. The depths are spot on. This one should go into the hall of fame for definite. Amazing pixel art. 6 out of 5 stars.

user
cure (Level 11 Pixellite) @ 11/21/2011 23:37

neat.

@Christo: just cross your eyes. unless you only have one. in which case, sorry.

user
Christoballs (Level 7 Neanderthal) @ 11/19/2011 13:51

I'm glad to see you posting again!

It's a shame I have nothing to see this in all its stereoscopic glory :(
