Sprites are pixel art. It's just that the tools used in the business aren't always compatible with pixeljoint's rules. You would probably use partial transparencies in a modern game which is otherwise completely pixel art - that wouldn't get into the gallery either because it's against the rules.
Well, I think it's best if I leave then, because I only make sprites, not pixel art.
Farewell.
these are the rules. they are in place in order to have a working definition of pixel art that allows us to moderate the gallery. no one said anything about hatred, don't be so melodramatic.
I'm sorry if it's not allowed in PJ.
If it's really not appreciated and hated here. I might aswell leave.
For game art it's certainly fine and perhaps necessary, and doesn't make it any less 'pixel art', as the definition of that term has vague borders. But for PJ, allowing automatic tools muddies the water and creates a huge grey area that's impossible to moderate.
Sorry, I'm not really used to "Pixel art" I mainly work on sprites, you know, for games.
auto-rotation is kinda frowned upon at PJ, it betrays the 'every pixel carefully placed' mentality of pixel art. Every frame needs to be pixelled by hand (auto-rotation is fine if followed by cleanup)
I was just rotating it in a program that I use to give more effect, but yes it does look a bit weird when it rotates.
is that autorotation? the pixels get kinda screwy when he turns.
I know, but still, I make this kind of stuff, not the kind that I see around here.
