it definitely could be improved, but the overall work is AMAZING. Congrats!
As big as this is, it looks like it'd definitely take a while to make. I do have a few criticisms/suggestions for this-
I think the color mix of blue and yellow looks good together, but with 91 colors (not counting background) there sure is a ton of them on your palette without much variety or many dark colors. The few dark colors that you do have aren't used very much either, so it ends up being washed out. The best looking part of this is the glowing orb on his front because it has the most contrast and is the only part that's not washed out, besides also having the sharpest details.
I would like to see the dithering pulled back in some places and spread out further in others, with more types of dithering, instead of just one type clinging to every border between two colors that aren't separated by an outline. The reason is that there's a strange mix of solid patches of color and blurred edges between them. That glowing orb on the front is the only part that really feels like there's any crispness.
You may have improved the palette of the original. Nice.
