Hmm...Personally, I dislike dithering as a shading option, but it kind of works here. However, the left side of the orange icon doesn't look nice (The thing he jumps on). It needs to be single pixel line thickness in my opinion. It will make the icon look more rounded.
Other than that, kudos ;)
The animation really helps clarify what's going on there!
Hm, I can try to do a modified version of that. A regular idle won't work because Orun is in the middle of using a move. Perhaps I can make him land on the platform then walk off back to the one he's over now, then use his special jump move to get back up to the top platform. I may just go all out and spare myself any extra thought though since he'll get the Orange blossom when he lands on the top platform. -_-
Dunno, 4 frames should be plenty for animating an 'idle' scene, the little things bobbing around, lights going on and off, and similar stuff :) This is what I'm talking about :)
If I did a 4-frame what would you recommend be happening? With 2 frames I imagine a pause flashing would work, thought I find it distasteful for its overuse. As you've seen in the few animated pieces I've submitted, I usually use a good number of frames.
You could do a 2- or 4-frame animation cycle for the whole scene, I remember doing it once and it made the whole mockup feel more alive and game-y :P
(it also takes much less time to do!)
And I'm sure the way I animate is a lot less efficient than however you do it. I make each frame individually in Gale then open them as separate layers in Gimp, then trigger the animation. It takes forever and I haven't done it in a couple months so I'll probably have to relearn it all again. -3-
You should! If you manage to find the time to do it, of course. Animating stuff, for me at least, takes me a LOT longer than drawing stuff :/
Thanks, I agree about the texture and I'm glad you like the health meter. I'm considering animating this; should I?
I'm guessing that was his aim. XD I've done that to people in threads I frequent on Gaia.
The oranges are a bit too noisy for my taste, but on the other hand, it's the only way to depict the texture of the oranges' skin. I like the health meter idea :)
(also, you changing your avatar and Graindolium changing to your old avatar has actually baffled me for a moment there)
I'm intrigued - what type of game would this be - platformer?
Thanks for the suggestion. ^_^
