That it's not just a free graphic for people to take and post around the internet without credit?
Ah yes, I'll have another look after the week of voting is over : )
Ah u added something special =) as the rope go up it should be darker ( the lighter part )
Thank you! It's not ambitious or fancy but just something simple, I didn't want to feel overwhelmed :)
Ah, thank you again philippejugnet, I wasn't sure if edits were allowed once something was submitted to a challenge :) I've now begun some slight changes, I added a little swing but it really doesn't fill that central area that way a character or creature would, but I suppose it's still a bit charming maybe... I'll keep thinking that over in case something ideal hits me : P
@jabber, thank you! I've heard it said to avoid dithering but it's one of my favourite parts of pixelling and I love to play with it :D
@bluemagma, thanks, I knew right away if I wanted it to be clear that the sun was reflecting off the grass, I'd have to separate the lighter half of the palette towards the sky and the darker for the ground ^^
@xamilew, you're probably right about the thickness of the tree trunk, I always find I'm unsure of the exact type of tree I'm trying to portray, as there are no lovely typical oak type treses here, only scraggly thin gum trees or xmas like pines, so when it comes to something outside those two extremes, I'm less sure without finding a reference first. I did adapt the shading on the trunk a little though, as there were a few parts that stood out to me. In future I'll be sure to find myself tree references first : P
@yrizoud, that's a pretty awesome picture, I can see what you mean about the similarities of the composition!
And general thanks to everyone else commenting : ) I appreciate it ^^
Thanks for the advice philippejugnet, I actually did toy around with birds and butterflies but they didn't work out, I can see the need for something additional though : ) I'll think about possible alternatives, although I don't know that character you suggested very well and would prefer to use something I have more knowledge of :)
this is good - You need something to make it special not just a well-done-pixelart, something like a character maybe Totoro holding a girl's hand or somehting like that =)
This is really lovely. There's a lot of dithering but i think it's got a nice textured effect, and the palette is well-chosen. There's a very hazy atmosphere and i like that.
Greaty use of dithering to blend in the colors! I especially like how you made the horizon brighter to ad some contrast between sky and earth. Great job! :D
I think the tree trunk is a tad thick, otherwise a lovely scene. Perhaps a shadow under the tree could add more depth.
The layout reminds me of one of John Howe's paintings, Gandalf the Grey.
Good job on the sky, It's challenging to make a long gradient in only 3 colors.
This is really good. Nice job on basically everything. The part I like the most is how the grass has a rough, faded boundry with the sky.
Oh? I did choose it but I guess something might have gone wrong when I submitted it, I went to "edit" and tried to select it again : ) I think it's there now, thanks for letting me know!
The lighting in this picture iz amazing! Great pic!
