Multicolored bitmap, red as background color.
Made for the graphics competition at LCP 2011:
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/event/?id=1693, where it reached the 1st place.
Inspired by the opening scene from Lars von Trier's "Melancholia", where Kirsten Dunst holds her hands against the sky with electricity running from the fingertips accompanied by the prelude from Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde".
Also from the work by Lars Verhoeff.
It follows the logic of overlaying several layers on top and into each other to give grain and materiality. I tried to do the hands "smoother" in order to create a physical appearance of space, which of course failed because of the dithering technique. And as usual with the restricted cell of 8x8 pixel blocks of three individual colors in each + a common background one has too choose, whether to anti-alias or to make a shape.
