Frost: You may find the workstages at the CSDb site, http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=82699
Choose the "Hatching No 1 - Workstages.zip" file, they might be of some help to understand some stages in the process.
Do Joe dream of electric androids?
Yes!
The way you use patterns to give a sense of volume, shape and shading is pretty crazy. And the way you use "layers" of pixel-grids to create the illusion of more colors and invtervowen shapes is also pretty amazing. I've played around with similar techniques but I find it to straining for my eyes, doing that kind of stuff for a extended time.
I would love to see some workstages of you works!
Thank you!
I think I was looking back for the inspiration the fantastic art had on me while growing up. All the pin-ups from Hajime Sorayama and so forth. I was really convinced that I could do something else in that legacy and not just blunt copies. I was also searching at the time (and still is) for new ways of having lets say "textile" qualities to surfaces and not just simplified hatching techniques to mask hues and transitions.
Man your work is sinister. This is great stuff. What got you to start this theme of android type robots?
Ah! It's you Frost, haha: A collegue close by from the scene :)
