hello joe. welcome to pixeljoint and thanks for uploading this :) i am a big fan of this mode and your screenshot is an excellent example of its opportunities. nice touches switching the background color at the bottom. which editor did you use for the level map?
btw restrictions for multicolor charmode:
40x25 characters on screen, each of them can used as hires (single-pixel 8x8) or multicolor (double pixel 4x8)
fixed background color, 2 additional fixed colors for multicolor mode - those can be chosen from all 16 colors.
there is one custom color which can only be chosen from the first 8 (black, white, cyan, dark red, purple, dark green, dark blue and yellow). technically speaking this is because this one tells the machine which mode to use. first 8 say multicolor, last 8 defines hires.
lower degrage on the bricks makes it look like it has million colors!

Yes it has a certain flavour. I imagined a more exotic architecture, since the storyline was that the inhabitants some far reached sibblings to the human race had this world in the dark underground of the Xamox Catacombs (David Simmons storyline), where the SLF, half man-machine was activated. My first choice of construction then would be the vaults and part from roman architecture, you find this a lot more elaborate in the islamic world.
