Nice little ninja (i wouldn't like to have running around though).
The demo is great!
snowk: well, i guess it is a bit out of context here (watching the demo intro is recommended) ...
if this has been a single sprite character i'd use min 8 frames for fluid animation, but in this case it is more a memory issue. this animation needs 20 sprites, changing direction another 20 + 8 sprites for 2 standing character positions. in the demo there are also a saw animation (20 sprites) and an additional layer with flying sparks (also 20 sprites)... overall 88 sprites, which is quite much for a c64.
i started with 4 frames and had to decide to use common japanese style (one ahead, one back, 2 in between) or shadow run... imo second version is the better compromise, because it indirectly doubles the frames and an almost black character seemed to be a good match for the rough 4-color background in the demo.
still there was a problem with the frames crossing the legs. the size of the leg/foot without shadowing and the double pixel mode seemed to be fused and disturbed the whole flow. this is why i added one frame to get different positions. probably one more would be even better, but this would have been another 8 sprites that need memory...
Nice little sprite here. A few things: The legs don't appear to cross eachother. maybe one more frame inbetween, or perhaps double the animation and make it clear that on teh second cycle his further leg goes behind the other leg. If that is intended then that's cool. 2nd, I think it sould have more vertical motion somewhere, but it works without it, just an opinion. lastly I think it could benefit from some contrast, seeing as though at 1X zoom it reads very dark and without form. Contrast ----> form.
about that contrast remark, Im sure you know that after browsing your gallery. Still I think the sprite would be better with it.
@veto I understand completely: totally out of context. Didn't catch all of the restrictions, and I'm impressed with how well you do with them. Sorry faor all of those misguided comments :)
