Ah but I still use tapes :) My old Amstrad CPC 464 from 1984 is still in perfect working condition. It's outlived every other computer I've ever owned. I'm surprised the tapes still work. My Amiga 1200 still sort of works but the floppy disk drive doesn't.
I used to have dozens of disks, in all colors of the rainbow, and designed my own labels. But yes, especially in the later years it wasn't unusual that programms and games had five or more disks... But it was better than the cassette tapes though (rewind, "press play on tape").
Good times!
Nice piece. I think I'll always have a fondness for the general image of the old blue 3.5 inch floppy disk but I certainly don't miss using them. Too many bad memories of tedious disk swapping for larger games and finding out there's a read error on some of them too. But yeah it's a nicely pixelled image here.
This is AWESOME :D Very awesome idea and really well executed in my opinion : )
This makes me want to see a version of this with a 5 1/4 floppy. :)
optical illusion..looks like the boarder is round or bending..
"...hey, I remember those things! Archeologists occasionally find them fossilized and... Oh. Nevermind."
Seriously though, loving the dithering job on the disk.
Glorious floppy disks. So many random games inside of them.
The clouds are kinda great!
Kids from some 10-20 years from now:
-gee, what's THAT? O_O
The sky and the disc are very nice but I'm not a big fan of the mountain and especially the border.
Ah yes, I used to have some for the Amiga. Ol' times!
