It's a good sprite and I like the design.  Shame it was done before the challenge.

 Technically you are not supposed to submit pieces that were made/begun before the week of competition.  Only pointing it out because it's been pointed out to me before.

Yeah, at first I tried to go for the smooth, bright-paletted look of pokemon, but couldn't keep myself away from crunchy dithering and fuzzy edges.

Maybe some day.

 Hm. Nice clairity. Really readable. But the colors and style don't match pokemon, but that's not a huge issue, if it's an issue at all.

All in all, nice work!
