Good attempt. The foliage looks very slym'ish. Some critique to improve: It looks slightly messy in some places, try to clean up some lonely pixels and pixel staircases. Also, the lightning on the trunk looks odd compared to the foliage, because there are highlights left and right. And my last point would be that it could have some more depth. It looks better with the second layer overall, but this layer has the same detail as the first, which looks too busy. Try to render the foliage with less detail and highlights. You could also hue shift it a bit  to blue to give an distance effect. Maybe at least some colors.

 Very nice depth on the trees. It's a sahme you didn't put another layer behind them.

Very nice, I like it. I would love to see another background layer instead of just a flat colour. Good use of 8 colours on the background though
