Especially in the context of when it was submitted, it feels especially inappropriate to me.
Like failureboy, I was raised Christian and this does not offend me. I perfectly understand that this is a simple pun. Others might not think the same way, though.
that's a very good point, I think I'll try and do that next time, but as failureboy said, it does kinda add to the context, and it doesn't seem to be too offensive.
I think trying something outside of your comfort zone and potentially learning something as an artist is preferable to taking the easy route and creating an image that's probably insulting to a large number of people.
Holy shi... are those hundreds and thousands on that holiest of craps? :P
My orrignal plan was to do a window actually, like one of those stained glass windows. The problem is that I'm not a very good artist and it probably wouldn't have ended up very good.
I get what Cure is saying and he's certainly right about how the Star of David would be recieved. I 'spose there needs to be a standard, rather than a double standard . . .
. . . but for what it's worth, I was raised Christian (and my wife's Catholic) and this does not offend me. I recognize that this is more a play on words rather than a stab at a religion.
How else can one show crap as being "holy?"
How 'bout a halo?
a window. the sun. source of all crepuscular rays. Or at least a neutral symbol like a circle of light.
I'll be honest, I really didn't want to use the cross, but it felt really blank right there and I neede something to occupy space. If you can suggest something that wouldn't be offensive that would be greatly appreciated.
What, I said with all due respect!
Wouldn't be offensive if it weren't for the cross. Imagine if it were a Star of David instead. It'd instantly be called anti-Semitic. It's a pretty caustic statement aimed at the sacred beliefs of a specific group.
Of course it's inappropriate, ther's absolutely no question about that.
