I usually don't enter challenges, but I had an abnormally small amount of spare time tonight which means of course that instead of working on my homework I did this instead.

Had a lot of trouble figuring out how to compact this under 12 colors- originally, the pot had the purple flower decorations but that put me 2 colors over the limit :(

Very clean pixel art and the idea of the object is original compared to other entries.

I think this would have to be my favourite out the challenge entries so far, it's an amazingly good use of the colours available and a wonderful idea for something typically "small" as well! :D

Great choice of object for the challenge; looks great.

Nevercreature (Level 9 Whale Shark) @ 4/25/2012 14:36

Perfect with any hue.

Hapiel (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 4/25/2012 08:47

Mind that it is the MSoffice palette, not quite the MSpaint ;)

Drazelic (Level 8 Partner) @ 4/25/2012 08:32

@Adarias: Haha that broken tray was a last minute addition after I decided the perfect curviness of the pot was too boring.

@Hapiel: Yeah, the default MSPaint palette is apparently kind of close to my usual color choices. Whether this means my color choices are unsophisticated and raw or if I'm good at adapting I don't know :P

Oh, and the black color is actually the next nearest gray to black, not pure black. Don't know why I chose to go one shade of gray up, but w'evver.

Hapiel (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 4/25/2012 07:58

Bonsai was also one of my ideas! I planned to do something with it if I finished early with my apple.

I am glad you've done it before me though, this is unbeatable! Great colors (I see no restrictions!) and cool pot & leave pattern!

Works well with the black outline and transparancy (at least on my BG) :D

Adarias (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 4/25/2012 07:57

beautiful color use, perfect fit for the challenge, and even captures some of that wabi-sabi quality (even though you'd never see a broken tray in a 'real' bonsai piece ;-))

Mille (Level 7 Mass Murderer) @ 4/25/2012 05:30

That's a quite effective use of the palette. I almost like the purple one better.

slym (Level 8 Ruby) @ 4/24/2012 22:15

Love the shading on the vase and the unique leaves.

ultimaodin (Level 3 Corporate Drone) @ 4/24/2012 20:57

Very nice pixels! I like the purple version most, has a mini-cherry blossom look. ^_^
