As cool as this piece is, I think this would have been much quicker to do by normal digital art means (ala photoshop or GiMP) to get the same effect.. because of the sketchy style with bold lines there's hardly any refinement to this picture on the pixel scale.
That being said, as i mentioned before, it still looks cool so gj.
